So…I’m just now writing and bitching about this…but yeah it technically happened last night.
I got back from my 10+ vacation in Redmond with Phelicia and up near Seattle with my family. My brother has a label called Glossolalia Records, and upon arriving home he gave me one of his new releases. It was an album that I mastered and did some of the album layout for. Actually, my brother did more of the layout arranging than I did, but yeah. I spent a good month mastering it, trying to make it sound A LOT better than the mix. It was a pretty haggard recording.
Well…guess who didn’t get any recognition at all? Yep, this guy *points at self*
Which really makes me believe that won’t tell anyone about it either. That’s a big problem because how an engineer gets his start is mainly by word of mouth. Someone likes the mixing/mastering job and then want their band to have the same. Well if this current band doesn’t tell them it was me…then that’s losing a potential customer; which pisses me the fuck off.
You wouldn’t have someone paint something for you, then NOT give them credit, would you?
